An rpg made with GB Studio, Memento is a journey into the world behind photographs. It took me a painstakingly long time to draw the sprites and backgrounds pixel by pixel but I'm glad to announce that the project is finally ready for release!
Launch the game in your browser and press Z to begin. Use the arrow keys to move and Z to interact. There are multiple endings to unlock, so use the floating cameras in-game to capture your progress (i.e. save).

ooo i liked it!!! this was cute; i found the doors/ where i could go was a lil tricky- the way doors work in the game means like, if you're walking against a wall and then turn into a door, it wont trigger, even if you press Z; so I didn't go up the stairs in the second photo on my first play through)
i also care about that Middle Girl a lot ahhaha; it was really cute <3 i thought it was going to be a lot spookier than it ended up being (e.g. it turns out we were one of the bullies and it was doomed no matter what oop-)
came across your game cause i wanted to see what the GBA tool was capable of; im inspired ^ w^) <3
Oops yup, the doors are a bit tricky to navigate cos I set the door to trigger only when the player walks into the door! Really sorry about that! >< (Problem is I found that if I set a door to trigger if the player walks sideways into it, then the door will activate for every step you take as you walk sideways across it which meant you get stuck in a loop of entering & exiting till you walk past the door ahaha...)
But I'm glad you liked my game heheh :) There a few different interpretations of the story and its endings depending on how you see each character/role. Thank you so much for playing!

even though being a short one, this game really made me feel connected to the protagonist and have a lot of empathy towards the end, so beautiful ^^
also loved the idea of going inside the pictures and seeing what waited behind them. good work!
